Acorn Helps Integrate Multimedia Into The National Curriculum

Announces RSPB 'Birds' Promotion

Cambridge, UK. 31 May, 1994

Acorn Computers, the leading provider of computers to UK schools, has teamed up with the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) in a new educational promotion to help teachers integrate multimedia materials into curriculum activity. The joint promotion is designed to stimulate the use of CD ROM in schools to support national curriculum attainment targets by tying in classroom activity and a field trip to a local RSPB centre.

Peter Talbot, General Manager UK Education at Acorn Computers, comments:

"Promotions like 'Birds' provide teachers with practical and exciting ways of integrating multimedia with day to day classroom activity to bring the curriculum to life. The RSPB scheme is proof of Acorn's long term commitment to bring greater multimedia capability and enhanced literacy systems to our classrooms to underpin the demands of the curriculum."
Acorn's 'Birds' promotion extends the Department for Education's recent CD ROM initiative. Schools buying an Acorn Archimedes computer with CD ROM drive, the RSPB 'Birds' CD ROM (with resources for Key Stages Two, Three and Four) receive a free £50 RSPB voucher, redeemable against a class visit to an RSPB reserve. The 'Birds' promotion will be available from Acorn Education Dealers throughout June and July. Schools should contact their local Acorn Education Dealer for price and discount details.
