Cambridge, UK. 9 September, 1994

Acorn Computers, the leading supplier of computers to UK schools, has launched Acorn Selector, a unique and detailed guide to the wealth of IT resources and training courses available to educationalists through Acorn in Education Centres (AECs) across the UK. Designed to enable teachers to take maximum advantage of the educational opportunities IT provides, Acorn Selector underlines Acorn's commitment to providing complete solutions to teaching needs.

Peter Talbot, General Manager UK Education at Acorn Computers, comments:

"Acorn Selector demonstrates the size, strength and maturity of the Acorn education community and our commitment to providing complete solutions to meet the needs of these educationalists. By helping teachers to get the most out of Acorn computer equipment in classrooms, Acorn Selector will enrich the education of children throughout the country."
Teachers will be able to see at a glance the wide range of classroom support literature, software resources, training courses and workshops available through AECs nationwide to support Acorn technology in education. With contents listed alphabetically, regionally and under curriculum subject area to enable cross-referencing, Acorn Selector will provide an easy to use and invaluable handbook for all education staff.

The Acorn in Education Centre initiative was established in 1992 to provide teachers with educational IT support and to raise awareness of the true value of technology in schools. There are currently 59 Centres in the UK which teachers can visit to ask questions, try out computer systems, investigate and research new developments in educational IT to keep development plans up to date, view software and curriculum materials and participate in scheduled and tailored training courses.
