Following on the success of Pocket Book II, which has helped establish Acorn as a world leader in educational palmtop technology, Acorn is introducing an additional model with 1 MB of memory at the top of the Pocket Book range. Pocket Book II 1 MB is priced at £285.00 ex VAT and will be available in September from Acorn dealers or can be ordered directly from Acorn by UK education establishments. It differs from the existing Pocket Book II 256k and Pocket Book II 512k models only in that it has a total of 1 MB of internal memory. The additional memory makes it possible to store more information internally, without the need for recourse to SSD memory upgrades, and keep larger files and applications open and running simultaneously.
Schools can also benefit from bulk purchases of Pocket Book II 1 MB; a Class Pack of 10 palmtop computers, a School Pack of 100 and a Site Pack of 1,000. A free set of support peripherals, worth over £95, is supplied for every 10 computers in each bulk pack. Each set of support peripherals consist of 1 desktop link of the owners choice (A-Link for linking to Acorn 32-bit computers, PC Link for linking to IBM PC compatibles and M Link for linking to Apple Macintosh), 1 Parallel Link for direct connection to printers, and 1 Mains adaptor to extend battery life when using the desktop links.. The support peripherals are obtained by fulfilment on receipt of completed registration details. The instructions and forms for this are provided in an envelope in each pack of ten Pocket Books.
